Yet another big week for news from the Swedish streamer — highlighted by a big move into the ticket-selling market.

The new website - Spotify Tickets - is designed to sell concert tickets to their listeners, rather than redirecting them to other vendors such as Ticketmaster.

I like it. Feels right.

🔥 Spotify tickets: streaming firm tests direct pre-sales to fans

Spotify’s latest expansion into the world of live music will see the streaming service selling tickets directly to fans, rather than just linking to external ticketing firms.
For now, this is strictly a test rather than a full commercial launch. It kicks off tomorrow (10 August) with a small number of artists, with pre-sale tickets available to fans through Spotify’s app and a newly-launched tickets.spotify.com website.

🔥 Spotify Launches Feature Allowing Users to Share Their Picks for Kendrick Lamar’s Top Projects

Starting today, Kendrick Lamar fans will have the option of participating in an interactive in-app experience on Spotify in which they can visually represent what they believe to be the Pulitzer Prize-winning artist’s top 5 projects.

🔥 Spotify has spent $1.2bn+ on companies to scale its non-music business over the past 3 years

Spotify has made a number of company acquisitions over the past three years to scale its audio and podcast business – and now we know how much it paid in total for them between February 2019 to the end of Q2 2022.
