Snapchat Turns Snap Map Into a Real‑Time Music Feed With Spotify “Now Playing”
A new way to share music with friends, straight from Spotify
Snapchat is turning Snap Map into a social music layer.
Users can link Spotify and broadcast what they’re listening to in real time—right alongside friends’ locations on the Map.
Snap Map already draws more than 450 million monthly users, and “Now Playing” adds a new dimension of expression and discovery to that experience.
The integration launches with Spotify, letting Snapchatters connect their account, control exactly who sees their listening activity, discover songs through people they already talk to, and save tracks directly to Spotify from Snap Map, Spotlight, and Sound Pages.
“Music is one of the most personal ways people express themselves, and it becomes even more meaningful when it brings friends closer,” said Manny Adler, Snapchat’s Head of Music. “Now Playing adds a new layer of expression and discovery to Snap Map, helping Snapchatters share the soundtrack to their day and find new music through the people they already know.”
