Spotify Launches AI-Powered 'Running Mode' to Personalize Your Workout Playlist
A new personalized running experience
Spotify is debuting Running Mode, a new AI-driven feature that turns your playlists into customized running sessions matched to your goals, music taste, and tempo.
Available now to Premium users on iOS in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, and Sweden, the tool lives inside Spotify’s Fitness Hub and offers 25 curated running presets that you can tailor by workout type (interval, steady, pyramid, etc.), duration, beats per minute (BPM), and preferred music genre.
Once you hit play, Running Mode assembles a dynamic soundtrack that aligns track BPMs with your selected pace and transitions smoothly between songs to keep your rhythm intact.
Optional English-language audio cues act like a virtual running partner, offering timely encouragement and guidance without interrupting your music.
The feature builds on Spotify’s growing fitness ecosystem, which already includes Peloton classes and creator-led workout videos, and responds to strong user demand for more personalized, music-led fitness experiences.
