Hello and welcome to the latest Spotify Newsletter. I’m actually out of town this week and wasn’t planning on any long write-up …. but then we have Spotify’s investor day presentation in New York on Wednesday, plus this Spotify Pie thing currently shaking the internet, so I figured I should chime in!
With Spotify Wrapped still six months away, it’s clear folks need something to help ease the data withdrawal as they await the breakdown of their year in music streaming. Enter: Spotify Pie.
Spotify Pie analyzes your Spotify listening and organizes it into a highly sharable pie chart of all the genres you've listened to in the last month.
The website was created by UCLA student Darren Huang and the clever tagline reads, "Bake your monthly genre pie."
I’m not exactly jumping out of my beach chair to do it, but if someone has baked their own Spotify Pie please let me know your thoughts.
As far as the investor news… Spotify expects to reach $100 billion in revenue in 10 years.
That’s bold. That’s big. I like it!
"Spotify will put out these pretty audacious targets and we are going after these because that's how we see the world and we are going to invest behind that," Ek said.
Until next week….
