Spotify Newsletter #145
Your Weekly Dose of Spotify News
Hello — Welcome to the latest edition of the Spotify Newsletter!
That’s not my bike. But I did happen to like this photo.
Basically everything I said last week about streaming and instant access to music and enjoying the work of Jeff Beck can apply today (sadly) with news of the passing of the great David Crosby.
So here I am surfing across Crosby’s immense catalog of work on Spotify - from The Byrds to CSNY to all the solo recordings.
I’m all over the place consuming song after song from Crosby’s wonderful catalog over the years. Streaming can so quickly reintroduce you to songs you either never heard before, or had forgotten about.
I’m grateful for the opportunity to stream music.
Enjoy the links, thanks for reading and have a terrific weekend! Listen to lots of David Crosby! 😀

It’s a mark of the rhythms of the streaming that a full year after The Weeknd released his latest album ‘Dawn FM’, his Spotify metrics are going from strength to strength rather than dropping off.
The companies say Apple is harming consumers and are asking the European Commission to act quickly, even before the EU’s transformative digital regulations come into effect.
The premiere ended with Joel, Ellie, and Tess leaving the Boston QZ, with a radio flickering on and beginning to play a song. This was Depeche Mode’s 1987 track “Never Let Me Down Again”, from their sixth album Music for the Masses. Getting a song on a major TV show is proving very lucrative for musicians, as proven by Kate Bush and Metallica rocketing up the charts due to them soundtracking key moments on Stranger Things.
