Hello and happy Friday and thanks so much clicking in to read the latest issue of the Spotify Newsletter.

Below is an interesting story about the AI wave that’s crashing over the media giants.

Spotify CEO Daniel Ek described AI as "an incredibly fast moving and developing space" during the company's first-quarter earnings call on April 25.

He explained the platform's role in navigating the new technology is twofold: fostering creative innovation and protecting creators and artists.

I’d say that’s about as good a roadmap as you can get to this brave new world that links AI to the music industry.

Speaking of AI, you’ll also see below that Spotify DJ has made its way into the arms of users in the UK and Ireland. I think it’s a cool feature. Do I use it each time I check out the app? Nope. But for the few times I have danced with the DJ, it was an enjoyable music experience.

Spotify is launching its AI feature called “DJ” for premium customers in the U.K. and Ireland. The feature is aimed at music discovery and it plays curated music with AI-powered commentary in English. In many ways, using the AI DJ feels like listening to a radio DJ.
