Hello fans of Spotify! I’m Jeff, and this is the Spotify Newsletter!
It was a relatively low-key week in Spotify World, which is why I won’t linger too long in the intro - and get right to the news.
The story via Bloomberg about Spotify considering banning new uploads of white noise podcasts after realizing how much its algorithm promoted them is pretty interesting. Spotify could increase its annual gross profit by $38 million if it steers users away from so-called white noise podcasts.
I did want to say thanks to Music Metrics Vault - who are kindly sponsoring the newsletter this week. A sponsor! We’ve hit the big time! I’m delighted to spotlight Music Metrics Vault (see below) - especially since their focus is Spotify artist metrics.
I’d love to find a writer (or 2) to produce more original content for the newsletter - besides my joyous, weekly screeds. Someone to jump into all things Spotify with a focus on the business, the culture, the playlists, the future, etc…
Opening up the sponsorship channel (along with paid subscriptions - but no ads!) is how I’m looking to fund such an endeavour. So we’ll see. But sponsorship opportunities are available!
Ok - let’s get to the news of the week.
Thanks for reading — and have a terrific Friday and weekend!!

⭐️ Would it be worth Spotify shutting down its free tier in the US?
