⭐️ Spotify reaches 100 million paying subscribers across Europe
Spotify's latest Europe-wide data shows that EU artists generated over €1.7 billion in 2024 – a 15% year-on-year increase. It is nearly double the total of 2020 and more than triple that of 2017.
The news comes as Spotify’s founder and CEO, Daniel Ek, revealed that Spotify has reached 100 million paying subscribers across Europe (including the UK) at Spotify’s Open House.

Rick Derringer, whose six-decade career spanned teen stardom as lead singer of the ‘60s smash “Hang on Sloopy,” a ‘70s solo hit with “Rock and Roll Hootchie Koo,” session work with artists from Steely Dan to Barbra Streisand, and extensive work as a writer and producer of wrestling themes like Hulk Hogan’s seemingly ageless “Real American,” has died, his caretaker, Tony Wilson, confirms to Variety.
Wilson said Derringer died Monday evening in Ormond Beach, Fl. No cause of death was announced although Derringer had been in ill health in recent months; he was 77.
