The big news in Spotify World this week was centered around earnings; the Swedish audio-streaming giant posted stronger-than-expected subscription growth in the fourth quarter of 2020 as more listeners tuned into music and podcasts from home amid the coronavirus pandemic.
All told… Spotify now boasts 155 million premium subscribers and 345 million monthly active users, according to its latest earnings report.

The music streamer, led by CEO Daniel Ek, says "the pandemic had little impact on our subscriber growth and may have actually contributed positively to pulling forward new signups," but notes "increased forecasting uncertainty."

With K-Pop in its crosshairs, Korea brings Spotify’s total markets to 93 and will see the streamer compete with local platforms, as well as YouTube and Apple Music.

The company said today that it saw a 100 percent year-over-year increase in revenue coming from its podcast studio.
